Dr Richard Amah grew up in Brooklyn, New York, United State, and was partly inspired by reading his veterinary novels as a young child. Growing up with dogs, cats and horses sparked his real passion for veterinary medicine, which he decided to pursue from a young age. After graduating from Brooklyn College in 1991 and spending two years at a mixed animal practice in United State, he decided to specialise in small animal practice and joined THE De-Light Veterinary Company in 1993. He became a Partner in 1997 and is well known and respected by all our clients, particularly in Brooklyn where he heads up the surgery.

Dr Richard Amah has a dedicated interest in all aspects of small animal surgery, including bone and joint surgery (orthopaedics) and regularly performs more complex surgeries such as TTA cruciate surgeries

Dr Richard Amah has two cats. Louis, a loyal and loveable companion and Mitten, a long haired, later addition to the family, who was rescued from a dustbin in Brooklyn. It was love at first sight but Mitten has a feisty temperament hidden beneath her beauty and she keeps both Dr Richard Amah’s family and the surgery staff on their toes when she comes to stay!
